Roasted lamb shoulder

I splurge on a lamb shoulder last weekend. Cost me roughly RM69 for 2.4kg it wassss hugggeeeeeeee. It was a lot for me and hubs but since we saw jamie oliver cooked it last month hubs has not stop pestering me to make it.

So, off we go to sri ternak to buy the lamb shoulder. I dont know if other places has cheaper one but i think RM69 is quite reasonable lah kot.

Mind you, this dish takes a lot of patience. It took me around 4 hours to make it. And the smell!! Satu rumah bau ok. Hubs was like "dah masak ke?" Every 10 mins. *annoying*

What you need.

Lamb shoulder. Large.
Rosemary
Garlic satu biji. Dalam 6-7 ulas
Olive oil
5 Large yellow Onion

Easy kan?

How to :

Because the lamb was huge. I cook my lamb dalam periuk yg masak gulai tu. Couldnt be bother to buy a deep baking tray. Pakai je lah apa yg ada.

Chop your onion mcm wedges size. And scattered it at the bottom of your pan ( in my case periuk).

Rosemary+garlic+ garlic tumbuk. Put some salt. After a bit lumat pour in generous heaping of olive oil and mixed it all. Take your lamb and stabbed it about ten times at various places. Pastu make a hole and pour all the rosemary concoction. Rub it on the lamb. Make sure it get into the hole that you just make. Dont for get to seasoned it with pepper

Put the lamb on top of the onion and pour in dalam 3 cups of water. Jgn sampai tengelam kan lamb. Just about sama paras dengan onion tu. Cover the whole tray with aluminium foil and put in oven for 3 hours 180c.

And then continue to cook another 1 hour not covered. Do jenguk2 and kalau air dalam pan tu dah kering. Tambah.

Done.

Oh and the sauce? Just use the lamb dripping inside the pan with the onion. Just reheat on stove and stir on some fresh cream or butter and floor if you dont have cream.

We have a lootttt of leftover. Itu pun lepas 2-3 kali makan. Lunch+tea+dinner.
Besoknye buatkan hubs grilled cheese sandwich with lamb dipped in the gravy. And the rest of it turn into lamb stew. Recipe later eh?

Chicken stew that my kids sukaaa

I have some leftover of roasted chicken fromlast night dinner. Mmg kalau isi ayam/chicken breast kat rumah ni no one gonna eat. So i have to be little bit more creative sebab tak nak membazir, you know.

Usually i would make a begedil. Or masuk dalam nasi goreng or make a sandwich.

But since im still having flu, chicken stew is just something that i need.

I also had gizzard inside the fridge. Kumpul2 dah cukup kot 10. I always made sambal with it. But im using it as a based for the stew too.

What you need :

Large flat plan
Shredded chicken meat Just the meat. (Put aside the chicken skin)
Chicken juice from the roasted chicken of any.
Chicken stock
Gizzard(optional)
One large onion(dice)
Carrot
Potatoes
Salt and pepper
Flour

Not so many ingredients ey?

How to :

First thing first. We need to make a stock. Put the leftover chicken bones in a pan with water and let it boil away. Put in basil leave and rosemary if you have any.

Hot pan, olive oil + a spoon of butter if you want. Cut your gizzard into small pieces and sautee it away. If you have any left over chicken skins do chopped into small pieces and sautee it too. Crispy skin is alwaaaaayyyssss works wonders and bring more flavour.

Put in your finely dices onion. Tossed it around. Once your onion has turn slight brown ish. Put your diced carrots and potatoes. Tossed it around again.

Put in a spoon or two of flour. Stir it. By this time your chicken stock is ready. Pour the broth into the pan. Use a sieve. Stir it. Your soup will be silky and thicken. Put in your shredded chicken. Let it simmer for good 10 mins. Add water if it dry out. Seasoned with salt and pepper. Put in some chopped parsley in the end.

Easy peasy no?

Ok. This stew is great to eat on a cold day. Nak makan with garlic bread or dumplings or even like my kids- with nasi impit or mash potatoes.

If you have leftover of the chicken stew plak, you can make yourself a chicken pot pie. Just put your stew in a ramekin. Stir in bechamel sauce if the stew a bit cair and slap over a puff pastry on top. Put in oven 175c for 20-30 mins. Taadaaaa. Instant pie.

Yellow yellow mashed pumpkin

Im always trying to get the cheapest way to cook. Cheapskate lols. BUT why spend more when you can get the same result half of a price.

I saw this half a pumpkin at pasar borong for merely RM1 and i cant resist not to grab it.

Thinking of making a pumpkin pie. I need to find time to make the pastry. Kidding not, im very lousy in baking. Tak tau kenapa. Nak measure2 alahaiiiiiii lembab sgt. I only make chocolate cake and choc chip itupun sebab mmg measure using cups. Pathetic, i know. Haha

Ok back to this dish. I wanted a smokey flavour for the pumpkin so i roasted it in the oven for 30 mins 175c. Mind you, i always has excuse to use the oven sebab owh my senannggg. Masuk, turn on the knob and timer and you can mandi, mop lantai etc etc. seriously if you dont have one. Go get it. Buy toaster oven pun ok. You can get it for less than 100. Worth it!

Ok, im melencong.

Make sure to scoop out all the mid section of the pumpkin (biji + residue) before you roasted it. No need to peel the kulit.

After 30 mins. Take out and let it cool and scrape the isi out from the kulit. And mash it. On a hot pot. Put in cream and a very small amount of butter and let it simmer. Pour the cream onto the mashed pumpkin. No need to put salt. It tastes good just like that.

Serve it with meat or chicken.

The meat and kacang buncis recipe is already posted it before. Do scroll previous post.

BTW This is cheap a very2 cheap diah. About RM1 for half for a pumpkin and i only used quarter for this. Kacang buncis is a great alternative for asparagus and it only cost rm3 for one bundle. The only splurge will the beef. Rib eye may cost the cheapest at jaya groccer about RM28 per cut But if you know your frozen store at your place this baby can only cost you RM15 for 3 cuts.

My cost today for this is only a little bit under RM7. Who said you have to have a deep pocket to eat steak on daily?

Black pepper chicken paling simple dalam dooonniiaaaa

I had a large batch of order for sherperd pie and macaroni and cheese yesterday.

It was 2am mcm tu. Lapar. Ikutkan boleh ja makan the sherperd pie mmg buat cukup2 for customer. Plus i was craving something spicy.

Hence, jadilah resipi black pepper chicken paling mudah sesuai if you sgt2 malas. I always has this masa bujang2 dulu. Reminiscing the old times

How to?

Chicken cut to small pieces, marinate with kicap manis+oyster sauce+cili padi( potong halus)+black pepper and satu sudu tepung jagung. Mixed it all.

Pan with a spoon of butter. Put everythibg in and cover up your pan. Tak payah nak tunggu panas pun takpe. Remember, this is a very lazy cooking. Dont judge me please. Lols.

If you dont have a cover for your pan, buat lah makeshift cover pakai aluminium foil. Let it be on the pan for 5-6 mins. Dah masak, angkat. Eat with cold rice.

Sedap. It taste a little teriyaki like but with the cili padi it will definitely has a lil kick in to it. Great makan ngn nasi sejuk, Esp makan at 2am. Fatty fatty bam bam. Hoh.

Tilapia again...

I am still in phase where im currently obsessed nak masak talapia fillet ni. Lols

Bear with me.

Talapia was pan fry with butter with rosemary and lemon slice. Seasoned with salt and pepper. Used the brown butter for the sauce later

About 3-4 mins each side sebab this fillet is huggeeee.

Bak choy was sautee with garlic and cili padi. Yes, you read this right. CILI PADI. I even throw in leftover beef bacon from breakfast. I used oregano, salt and pepper for seasoning.

Super spicy. But sedappp. Walloping this while the kids was watching despicable me 2 for the 100th times. -.-

Crispy chicken with potatoes and beans

Im having a very lazy day. The kids are unwell last week so ive been sleeping with one eye open monitoring their temp.

They are well now. But still i am sleep deprived. Many people thinks that kalau duduk rumah ni ada masa nak tido senantiasa. Ooohhh tidak. Sometimes i dont feel cukup masa nak buat housechores dengan menjaga my two rascals.

Enough im-not-complaining. Im grateful.

Ive been craving for crunchy fried chicken. But unfortunately masa nak masak ni, minyak kat rumah limited sgt. Cant deep fried my chicken so i opted for this.

Oven roasted crispy chicken with potatoes and beans

Easy peasy.

What u need :

Potatoes
Beans
Garlic
Chicken
Salt and pepper
Flour
Butter

Potaoes. Boil until tender. Drain it and whilst its hot put in a table spoon of butter.

Butter makes things better like rachel khoo kata. Lols

Chicken. Salt and pepper. Dust it with flour. Hot pan. Splash of oil. Really. One table spoon is enough. Just make sure every surface of the pan is glazed with oil. And sizzle the chicken. Skin side on until it brown. About 2 mins each side. Put aside.

Beans. If you have french beans. Grreeaattt. But if u think french beans are expensive go for kacang buncit or kacang panjang. Saute finely chopped garlic with the same oil that u used to brown ure chicken. Let it brown and then Put the beans and tossed your pans around for 2 mins. Put it aside

Put all your potatoes and beans on a baking dish. And put the chicken on top of them. Pour the leftover oil from cooking chicken + beans on top of them.

Put it in oven for 30 mins 175c

Done.

Im serving this with honey mustard sauce

After your chicken is cook. Take all the potatoes+beans+chicken from the baking dish. And you will see on there is a lot of residue on it. That chicken residue with all the lemak2 and minyak ayam. That is golden. Normally, mak2 kita ajar- rendam bekas tu dengan air sabun. Sebab nanti senang nak sental.

I have the alternative way rather than rendam-to-make-it-easier-to-wash.

Put the baking dish on the stove. If you are using pyrex like me, api sila kasi kecik. And put in a cup of water. And while the water is getting hot, take a wooden spoon and start hakis all the residue. Put in a table spoon of honey and half table spoon of mustard. Wisk it around.

Done.

Serve and eat

Ok. Ayam is separa togel because gib already tore off the skin and ate it whilst i was making the sauce. Believe me, he was trying to push me aside to grab the chicken when i took this picture.

Bertuah. Akhirnya ayam ni dia punyer.

Potatoes cream soup with pan fry tilapia

Was at out for grocerries shopping last weekend and saw this. Cannot help it. Grab two and chucked into my trolley. I dont have freaking idea what to cook with the fish but, like i mention before my debone skill is non existence, same goes filleting a fish. So seeing this, makes my day.

Balik baru pikir nak masak apa.

This recipe was loosely based on masterchef australia 6 where i saw tracy was making a summer vege soup with lobster medalion. It looks goooooddddd.

Potatoes creamy soup.

How to ?

Russet potatoes
Carrots
Large onion
Flour
Chicken stock
Milk
Cream

Diced your potatoes, carrots and onion finely. If you have celery do put in. I have to forgo it sebab lupa nak stock up.

Hot pot. A splash of oil. Sautee your onion. And the put in your potatoes and carrots. Agak2 dah brown sikit put in a cup of chicken stock. If you dont have it. Pakai je the chicken concentrated tu. Mix it with water.

Simmer it away. On a bowl mix two spoon of flour with milk. Make sure there is no clumps and pour it into the vegetables. After the vege is well cook, tutup api. Let it cool. Sebab kalau u blend panas2 rosak blender plak no?

After u blend it, reheat it back. And stir in half cup of of cream. Salt and pepper to taste.

Done.

The fish.

Ing :

Butter
Salt and pepper
Flour

Hot pan, 1 spoon of butter and a spalsh of oil. Seasoned the fish with salt and pepper. And dust the fish with flour.

Sizzled it in the pan. Skin side on. Fish cook quite easily.. Soo about 2 mins each side? Just make sure the skin is crispy. Oh sedappp yeee

Serve and eat. I eat it with spoon sebab sekali suap dpt sekali soup. I loooovvvveeee this dish. Something different kan? And talapia plak tu. Selalu buat sambal ikan goreng talapia  garing or better yet my father in law awesome ikan talapia pekasan. Oh, Definitely Need to blog about that too

I do apologise of the lack of garnish. And how simple it look. But believe me what lack in presentation is not lacking in taste. I was licking the plate when im done with it. Its amazing how carrots and potatoes ( a few humble ingredient tbat we have at home and resulted to one awesome delicious filling dish.

School holiday = more food

Its school's holiday. My kids eats a lot during this time. Must be sebab main satu hari panjat sana sini. Aaannnddd dont mention about the mess. Kemas bila diorang tido je lahh.

Its funny when school holiday means that i have to work more. Hohoho. Ironic sgt.

Maryam esp lovveeeeeeeee pancake. Kalau boleh pukul 12 tgh malam pun nak makan. Usually i reserve pancake on weekends sebab maryam tends to take her own sweet time kalau makan pancake. So during school's morning it will be toast and cereal only.

How to?

Always watching cooking show in afc, using buttermilk can resulted your pancake to be fluffy and bouncy. But lets face the facts that in here 1) buttermilk is demn expensive 2) it is hard to find. Kat malaysia ni tak ramai yg pakai buttermilk pun

So the next best alternative is to use plain yogurt with milk. Its cheap. Rm1.18 satu bekas whilst buttermilk can easily cost you rm12 for 250ml

Plain floor
Baking powder
1 spoon sugar
Milk
Yogurt
Egg
Vege oil

Mix you dry ingredient first. On a seperate bowl wisk your egg with sugar. And add 2 spoon of yogurt and half cup milk.
Pour into you dry ingredient bowl. Mix it around. Make sure takde clump.  And dont forget to add the oil at thelast bit. Make sure it is not too runny or it stick at the back of your spoon. Jgn pekat
mcm cekodok plak.

Flat pan. Hot. Put in a laddle of the batter. Try to make it as round as you can. I dont bother dah. Hahahaha. Its sometimes came out round but sometimes its look like a map. Lols

Flip it when you see the batter start to have tiny bubble all over.

Serve it with butter and maple syrup. Or even ice cream and choclate chip.

Facts : sometimes i made 15 pieces of pancake for my two kids and still they ask for a bowl of cereal afterwards. How mummy wish she has your metabolism kids. Sobs

Do not throw your kulit udang

Im a hoarders. I rarely throw away food. I usualy end up freezing everything that i think can be use later.

For example, kalau buat cheese cake u only egg yolk je kan. I will freeze the remaining white egg. Just in case kalau nak buat meringue or pavlova.

Paling2 selalu that i freeze is. Kulit udang and chicken bones.

This is of course to make stocks.

Prawn stocks are awesome for tom yam, mee kari or even kari kepala ikan. So i always keep them in hand just in case.

How to ? Sgt simple. just chuck your prawn shell into a pot. Put in cold water. I usualy masukkan a bunch of thyme and basil leaves.

Boil it for an hour. And strain it. Cool and store in your freezer

For chicken stock i usually rebus together with carrots, onion and celery. Thyme and basil. Again, strained, cool and freeze.

This stocks can be made while you are mandi, or bathing ure kids or while watching tv.  Super easy super simple but generous in flavour. Believe me, that prawn stock will make your tom yam taste like no other tom yam before. It is full with flavour. And it cost next to none. Kulit and kepala udang yg u normally cmpak masuk tong sampah.

Now, next time. Think twice before you throw it away. Hehehe

Kailan.....

This is a kesinambungan of the post where im using kailan with stirloin steak.

Kailan was dry pan fry until it caramelised at the tips of the leaves.

Hot pan, splash of olive oil. Fine diced garlic, put the kailan on. Susun the kailan on the pan. I tak kerat the kailan. Just ambik selai2 with the tangkai
Season it with oregano, salt and pepper. I did put a suku sudu of sos tiram on the kailan to get it caramelised faster.

And cayyene pepper for extra heat. Chili flakes pun ok.

Sauce was meat juice and a dollop of mint sauce.

Makanan org bujang

Yesterday was hectic.

Maryam's ada year end school trip at ostrich farm. So pepagi lagi dah kene handle her. And not to mention that i had an appoinment at KL at 10pm kene keluar rumah at 8.30 with gib. Mandikan gib lagi. Feed him.. Kejar satu rumah nak kasi pakai baju lagi -.-

Reach back at semenyih at 2pm. By that time was mengigil lapar. Gib was fine sebab id already packed him sandwich yg he walloping all alone in the car. I just has banana smoothie at 8am morning for breakkie.

This is a quickie dish. Masuk rumah masak nasi. Fried the chicken. Ikan bilis and potatoes and tumbuk cili padi. By the time nasi masak lauk pun settle.

Fuuhhhh. My favs org bujang food. Simple, delicious and super easy.
Nasi putih panas kicap with ayam goreng kunyit with cili padi.

End up makan 2 pinggan of nasi and for go my diet of the day.

Sayangi our local produce. And how cheap they are.

Always i feel intimidated kalau tgk cooking show kat tv. Because they have state of the art kitchen. Besarrr. Kitchen hob ada 6. My stove is like 2 yg beli kat kedai letrik tepi jalan tu je. Plus, the ingredient that they use is alien to me. And kalau carik kat jaya groccer pun it cost melampau lah mahal. *urutdada*

White asparagus, salmon egg, rib eye to name a few cost rm30-40 per item.
So i always end up telan air liur. And just berangan je lah nak makan. Or pergi lah makan kat luar with pricetag yg boleh buat bankrap makan tiap2 hari.

But then, i started to experiment with our local produce. Like the one that i posted before using kacang buncis. I tried it with kailan too. Id also have stuffed kurma and kangkung for a chicken roulade to subs a asparagus and figs.

Sometimes it works, sometimes well... Tekak sendiri makan. Kalau disaster pun telan je lah. Dah termasak hehe.

You'll be amaze of what your normal kangkung or pucuk paku can do to your dish. Take it out from the normal masak lemak cili padi ikan talang (ok, now im craving for this!! Makan ngn sambal belacan. Sedappp!!!) and try to fusion it with salmon ke, lasagna or anything that you like. Try it.

Facts : i did make sherperd pie using long beans sebab frozen peas and celeries are demn expensive. Sedappp plak. Crunchy2 gitu.

Cheap, tasty roasted chicken

I always make this when the kids is not feeling well. Sedap kot makan ni tgh selsema. Huhu

Unfortunately today, the one yg tak sihat is me.*sob*

Cooking time is 1 hour 15 mins or so. I know mcm lama. Tapi it is because the time chicken spend dalam oven to cook. It will give u ample time to lay on the couch and nurse ure self back to health while waiting.

Mash potatoes

A few russet potatoes
A cup of milk + cream
Salt
Butter
Pepper

Pototoes- boiled untill tender. Drain it and mashed.
Heat up milk+cream and butter. Until it simmer.
Pour it to the mashed potatoes and mix it  well.
Salt and pepper to taste

Done!!

Now the chicken. Sumpah senang and sesuai to manusia pemalas like me

Garlic
Rosemarry
Olive oil
S + P ( salt and pepper)
Lemon (boiled with potatoes tadi)

Tumbuk garlick and rosemarry with salt together. And pour in olive oil into the lesung and grind it together. Slathered it into the chicken. Im using whole chicken. Do take out the wishbone before this.
Take the lemon yg di rebus tu and punctured it with a fork all over. And put it inside the chicken. This will help the chicken to cook from inside. And give it lemonty flavour.

Cook in the oven. 200c for 75 mins.

And tadaaaa

Easy peasy. This dish is suitable for working mom. U can marinate it the night before and put the chicken wrapped in plastic wrap and fridged it.
Balik kerja, crank up ure oven. Take the chicken out, put in baking dish and let it cook. That 75 mins u can spend magrib, mandi, bath ure kids. Tak nak buat mash u can always opted for roasted wedges - roasted jugak so masuk sekali dlm oven. Or just whip some salad.

Senang kan? This healthy dish only cost me less than rm20 for 4 pax!!!

Easy peasy oglio olioo

my take on oglio olio recipe

Paling senang. Sumpah. If in the middle of the night malas nak masak this would be the first thing that comes to my mind.

Ingredients :
Pasta
Butter
Garlic
Seafood: udang/ayam
Parsley
Dry chili flakes
Salt ans pepper to taste

Spagetthi, rebus and drain. Simpan lah sikit air pasta ni dalam satu laddle. Lepas drain when its still berasap2, throw in a two table spoon of butter and 2 pinch of salt and pepper. Toss it around.

Flat plan. A splash olive oil. Taruk ure choice seafood. Make sure to seasoned it with and pepper. Sotong or udang or like me i like having both). Make sure ure pan is hot enough. Seafood doesnt take too long to cook. Nampak merah2 flip it and dah boleh angkat.

Put in another healthy dose of olive oil. Pastu masukkan finely dice garlic. The more the better. Ok this you have to be careful. Make sure ure pan is hot when u put the garlic but, bila masukkan garlic tu kecikkan api. When the garlic turn brownish cmtu.

Put all the spagetthi yg u dah drain. And start to toss your pan. Ala mcm kat tv tu. Just flicked ure flicked ure wrist upward. I dont use spatula sebab tak mau break the spagetthi.

Pakai kitchen thong pun ok gak. Put in a sudu or dua air rabus pasta tadi kalau if the spagetthi mcm kering. Put in dry chili flakes. I used dominos punyer. Haha!! Cheapskate. Put in chopped parsly and pepper. Kalau rasa kurang olive oil tambah ler sikit .And throw in your seafood tadi.

Tossed it around. Tutup api. If u have grated parmesan cheese boleh taruk kat atas. Kalau tak, takde pun takpe.

Note : i wrote this recipe for a few of my friends who requested it and post it in FB. So i just copy and paste it here laahh. Hehe

Chicken grilled with oglio olio.

Ill write the recipe for oglio olio later.

The chicken. Boneless chicken thigh.

If you are rajin you can debone chicken leg yourself. But since my debone technique if like close to nonexistence, i bought boneless punyer. Lols

Facts : my hubs debone better than me. *malu*

This recipe for chicken grilled is super easy and super delish!!!! Yummeehhh
And basicly it have 4 ingredient in it

1st step:
Marinate the chicken. Take your chicken and put it in a plastic sandwich. Tak pun mana2 plastic lah. Or tupperware pun ok.
Now, put in salt, pepper, olive oil, rosemary leave and a squeeze of lemon.
Sila marinate at least 3-4 hours.

Simple sgt kan? Thats why this is one of my favs dish. You dont how much i love simple and delish food. Simple is important because im a sahm with kids at the age of 4 and 2. Mind you, tak boleh lepa sgt my kids ni.

How to cook :
If you have grilled pan. It would be great. Tapi kalau takde, normal flat pan pun ok.

Heat on. Make sure the pan is hot before u put ure chicken. Skin side on first. Each side is about 2.5 mins each. Afterwards, the pan, will be fill with the chicken juice and bits. DO NOT throw it away. Serve the juice on top of the chicken too. That juice is gold!! Thats the best part. Trust me. If you are making mushroom sauce that pan with all the juices are great for chicken stock.

No extra sauce with this as im eating it with oglio olio. It is delicious as it is.

You should try it. Really. Those crispy chicken skin is soooo sedap.

The best part? This cost me about RM3-4. Cheap kan?

Fried macaroni with ikan kembung and boiled egg

Ok. This is typical me. I have 101 things to do and sometimes i have to cook with what i have in such limited time

This fish, egg and vege fried macaroni works well if you in a hurry and have lotsa lefover from yesterday night.

I have extra ikan goreng from yesterday dinner. Take the isi out and discard the bones. Boil your macaroni. Since my kids love pasta so much i usualy boil it in Large batch that can lasted 2 - 3 meals. What you can do after you boiled your macaroni. Put some oil and salt put in a tight lid tupperware and put it in the fridge. Used it within 2-3 days. Very convinient kalau ure kids lapar nak makan masa2 tu jugak. (Which happen to me always)

I also have boiled egg so i guess im gonna put some in the fried macaroni too

Ing :
Garlic
Macaroni
Ikan or if you have chicken oun okeh
Eggs(optional)
Any vege. Brokoli/carrots and apa2 je. If your kids makan kangkung pun ok.
Vege oil
Parsley
spoon of oyster sauce

How:
Flat plan, heat on. Sautee finely diced garlic. Put your choice of vege. Im using carrots. Tossed it around. And then Put the macaroni in. Toss it around again
Put in a spoon of oyster sauce and the isi ikan. Tossed it around and make sure that all macaroni is coated with the oyster sauce. You can opted to put kicap too if your kids like to eat that.

Cut the boiled egg as u desire and put it in at the end. Salt to taste and put in some chopped parsley for colour.

Serve it.

My kids loves this. Its easy and tasty and has everything that good for kids too.

This took me 10 mins to cook which is superrrrr fast than waiting mcd to come and deliver lunch to your house.

Smart spending

Actualy tak mustahil to get a wholesome meal at a cheap price. It is kalau guys rajin to explore pasar borong.
It is not the most glamorous job i know. Pasar borong becak not to mention the smell.

BUT

Its money worth. Betul. And the seafood and poultry are fresh. Kdng2 kalau beli kat tesco and giant dah busuk. Mahal plak tu.

Mind you, my house is very farrrr from pasar borong. I stays at semenyih and i have to travel all the way to serdang to get to tge nearest pasar borong. With my two kids plak tu. *urutdada*

But since i cook 2-3 times a day. I need to keep my fridge fully stock. Kalau dah habis brng basah then i have no choice to buy kat kedai runcit depan ni. But mind you, ikan kembung sekor kat pasar borong is rm0.75 sekor. Kat depan ni rm2.40 sekor. Kalau beli banyak? *burningholesinmypocket*

Or, maybe now im a SAHM, i know that i have to spend smart, everything cost a lot nowadays. But, I dont go every day. Of course tak. But at least i try to make the trip at least 2 minggu sekali. And my favs part sebab sri ternak is sebelah pasar borong. Its Where i can get my meat/lamb cut and cheap cheap price. I litre of cooking cream cost me at rm10 saje. Mana nak dpt?

Rm100 spend at pasar borong gonna gost me 300-400 at jaya groccer.

Why i compared sri ternak to jaya groccer?because most of my shopping list inc a lot of rib eye/salmon/cheese/pasta/herbs. And to get the freshes of those thing my best bet is at jaya groccer/village groccer but they can cost you a bomb.
So the best alternative is sri ternak. They sell frozen awesome beef and lamb cut and dry herbs at cheap2 price.

So a good, delicious, mouth watering full course of western/italian meal can cost you less than rm10 per pax even if you a SAHM at semenyih. Haha

Super easy rib eye with kacang buncis.

I made this while the kids were watching tv after an hour of berendam in the inflatable swimming pool kat porch

Instead of making the usual steak and mash. I tot i change it up a bit.

I had a stack of kacang buncis in the fridge and i used it for my "sides". its cheap btw. You can get it at sri ternak for 1 pack for rm3-4. And it can lastes for 3-4 meals

I had 4 slices of frozen rib eye that i bought at sri ternak too at cheapo price - RM17.Which is a steal. A normal rib eye/sirlion at jaya groccer/village groccer will cost you at least rm20-30 per cut. And if you like your meat like me and hubs. This definitely will not make you go broke.

Ing :
Rib eye/sirlion or really any other cuts that you have
A handful of kacang buncis. You can use french beans too
Garlic
Cayyene pepper for hotness

For sauce:
Butter
A spoon of flour
Milk
Mint
Mustard
Vinegar

I pan fry the rib eye dulu. Hot pan, a splash of olive oil. The meat only need salt and pepper on both side. Just masukkan the meat whislt the pan is hot. Each side about 1 1/2 mins for medium well meat. At the end just put in a few rosemary leave just to get the tastse.

Put it aside to rest

For the kacang buncis all you need it the same pan that u use to cook the meat. This is important because you want the meat juice in the pan. Sedappp wooo.
Put in another splash of olive oil. Finely dice 2-3 cloves of garlic and put it in. Bila nampak the garlic nak turn slightly brown throw in the kacang buncis. Tossed it around. I like my kacang buncis to be a little bit charred. Sedap kot.
Salt and pepper to taste. And if you like pedas, do taruk the cayenne pepper. Im using the mcormick one. Satu botol cost about rm11. I know its a bit pricey. But it can lasted a year. Huhuhu soo ok lah.

While you are waiting for the kacang buncis to get charred. Lets do the sauce.
Use a small pan. Heat on. 1 spoon of butter+one spoon of tepung. Stir it sampai all the butter is coated with the tepung. Basicly u are making a bechamel sauce ni. And then masukkan 1 cup of milk. Wisk it around. Perlahankan api.

Im lazy, so im using mint sauce yg ready made punyer. Put a spoon or two and still wisk it. Also Put in a teaspoon of vinegar and a large spoon of mustard.
Salt to taste. Let it simmer for 5 mins.

The sauce should be mildly tangy and minty as a contast to the kacang buncis and meat.

By this time the kacang buncis pun dah habis masak.

Assemble it.

This dish it took me 15-20 mins to cook. Lagi kejap dari i menaip this. Trust me. I have two active toddlers. Anything yg took more than this. I wont do it during im home alone with them. 😁

Owh i cut the meat sebab nak makan pakai tangan while curl up and read. Sebab im usualy lunchtime i adalah mengadap cerita kat disney junior. LOLS
